Videos: How To Make A Fondant Rose

During our Introduction to Decorating With Fondant class we teach our students how to make different flowers. Bellow is the collection of 8 videos filmed during our class. Combined they are about 20 minutes in length. In the videos bellow Ann shows how to make a fondant rose.

Cake Decorating With Fondant: Rolling Out Fondant.

If you are planing to decorate fondant cakes, you might consider investing into some basic tools such as fondant mat and rolling pins. We recommend silicon mats and rolling pins. To roll out your fondant use confectioners sugar sprinkling it over the mat and the fondant to prevent fondant from sticking to your mat or your rolling pin. If rolling out fondant to cover a cake you need to consider in the height of the cake. For example of you need to cover a round cake that is 10 inches in diameter and 3 inches tall, you need to roll out a round piece of fondant that is 16 inches in diameter or more. It is always easier to cut off the access fondant rather than trying to stretch it. Rolling out fondant is not a difficult step, roll it out as would your dough. Watch the video bellow to see how.

How To Color Your Fondant

Today you can purchase fondant that is already colored. You are making a cake in deep colors such as black or red you can use a pre-colored fondant. However you can color your white fondant into any color you want using food coloring. The same food coloring you would use to color your butter cream icing. In the video bellow Ann shows you how to color your fondant. You need to start by adding very little food coloring at the time, using a tooth pick. If you want your fondant to be a deep color you need to gradually add more food coloring to it.

You can see more pictures at Trina’s Blog.

Here is what Trina wrote about making here cake:

This was a sweet sixteen cake that I made last week. I bought the 5 lbs. of Wilton’s fondant to make the city skyline of buildings for the outside of the cake from Chocolate Belles. I also purchased the colors, the silver dust, star mold and white chocolate from them as well. The cake was a white cake with a buttercream icing and raspberrying filling. The family absolutely adored the cake and others in attendance loved the moist, scrumptious cake! I couldn’t be anymore pleased with the results. Thank you, Chocolate Belles!

Thank you Trina for sharing your pictures with us!

If you have attended our classes in the past or used any of our products to make cakes, please feel free to share pictures of cakes, candies or whatever else you have learned to make with our readers and visitors. You can do so by visiting the following page.
